|
|
I am no fan of censorship. You will never see me burning any books or asking for certain books removed from libraries. I am hesitant to even add an automatic word filter here [though I recently have for a few words.] I have even been known myself to drop an f bomb or other 4 letters words in conversation, and possibly even on the forum a time or two. However - ......
Please remember that this is a family oriented forum. Many members read with their children nearby or even on their laps and they don't need to be exposed to that type of language here. There are a few who habitually push the limits on what is acceptable in a family environment.
I have friends who "curse" all time around their own kids and that is fine if that is what they want to do, or if that is something you want to do..... I personally cringe when I hear them do it, but, I'm not going to judge. Please remember that not everyone feels that that is appropriate and that this board has members from all over the US. Community standards vary by area.
Please respect others who don't want to read that type of language by toning down the usage of "curse words," "adult language" and the like.
I want to again also remind everyone that personal attacks will not be tolerated. I'm seeing this more and more on the boards and it is really getting out of hand. You can disagree with someone without resorting to name calling and cursing.
This includes attacks via PM!
I reserve the right to ban or remove access from anyone who personally attacks others or continues to post with rude or offensive language.
Thank you for reading.

I agree 100%. I may swear, but would never do so in front of someone else who I'm not sure is ok with it, and definately never near their children. However, I do need to stop swearing around my DS--he's 16 months and he'll soon be picking up on them... |

Thank you very much. I had restricted my 13 yr. old daughter from visiting this site because of the bad language.
So, thank you very much. |

I'm grateful that there is now a restriction on bad language and personal attacks. I may be one of a very small handful of people on here that does not swear. I was raised to not swear and I just don't. So I found it very offensive to read some of the posts that have been up here lately.
I'm also of the belief that we can disagree without throwing mud at each other or defaming another person's name. I've seen so much of the "mob mentality" where one person will say something and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and starts slinging mud, even if they aren't sure who they are throwing it at or why they are throwing it. If you have a grievance with someone - take it to them in a PM - don't bring it up in a thread for everyone to stew over/hash out/chew up/throw it out. If someone says something that offends you - send them a PM and tell ask them if that was how they really meant it to come across. The typed word doesn't always convey the real intent of the spoken word. There is no intonation, no smile (or frown), no pause for effect and no eye to eye contact that will quite often tell you more than words can.
Ok, I'm through with my motherly lecture for now. If you can't play nice, take some time off and figure out why you can't. Once you have fixed what is wrong and can play nice then come back to us again. |

Adding this to remind everyone... we've had MANY complaints for the last few months about posted "adult" topics, language and images.
I must caution, please use care and consideration of others....
