Please keep posts in this forum area on topic. This is a very high traffic area of the forum and we can't clog it up with OT (off topic) stuff. This area is for posting of trades only!

Please do not self-bump your posts more than once a day.

Let's try to be fair to everyone so that they can get equal exposure for the coupons they want to trade.

Thank You! Smile

Added 9/26/06:

Effective Immediately -+- any language in any post deemed(*) to have the single goal of getting others to bump the post by rewarding them for doing so will be grounds for locking or removal of the post.

Thanks for your understanding.

(*) Obviously this will be at my discretion. Posts in the trading boards (Coupon Trading Post, Actuals...) will be held to a higher standard. Posts in Chit Chat type areas to a lower standard.

Every 2 days on bumping? I think that's going to result in people posting a ton of individual posts rather than bumping one mass listing (which is actually already a problem with some traders who make tons of posts each for one specific coupon).

Can we have some guidelines on # of individual posts then? Otherwise a bump every two days means your thread might be 10+ pages deep if people start making tons of individual posts. I can see traders having maybe 2-3 posts: a full list and then sometimes a special post for something hot or about to expire.

Maybe a bump every 24 hours with updates?

Just some things to think about...but you have a good point. Sometimes I see posts bumped every few hours with no real updates or changes.

I'm guilty of over-bumping Embarassed because I was trying to finalize my list, so I should be much better now! haha Razz

I think once a day might be a little bit better too though, unless there are no changes!

I bump every 24 hours, and by then my post is on page 6 or 8 because of all the single coupon posting.
I'd rather see people being able to bump once a day instead of all the singles. 6+ posts in a row by the same person is a bit irritating.

I too am bothered by the bumping of all the singles, I mean sometimes I log in and search for one item and the top 10 listings are from the same member, that gives no room for anyone else to get exposure. I too am guilty of bumping, but only when I make changes and usually no more than every 24-48 hours. I think there should be more strict rules on multiple single listings...
Thx

I agree!! I think it should be a limit on the post!! Well said!!
I think also that we need an ISO board with on ISO listed! It would help a lot for people to get what that need instead of being on the 2nd page within 30 minutes! Thanks, Julie

Yes, an ISO board would be fantastic because sometimes we need stuff really fast for a sale! Good idea Julie.

An easy way to find it is to click "View your posts" located on the front page, upper right side, just above the solid blue bar. Easier still is to bookmark or save the link Wink

An ISO board is worth thinking about but I'm not sure it wouldn't be combined with trade offers just as the Coupon Trading Post is now though.

Unless it was strictly for ISO lists, it will have combined threads.... "I need" with "I have to trade" on the same post. Then too, if it is only for ISO lists, the question of what you'd trade for it means you have to direct people to the Trading Post or combine the thread anyway. thinking scratching chin We sort of have that difficulty with multiple one item per thread posts now.

Maybe the idea should be re-visited once all the off topic, one product only, and raffle/auction threads are discontinued on the Trading Post?

How about a rule you are not allowed to bump but every 10 hours? I know some other boards I visit have this rule and you are only allows 12 post per day on the trade board that could eliminate the bumping and the single post all together. Just a thought??

Personally I see the ISO thread as a way to post for an immediate need - I need this right now for an upcoming sale.

I also see a need for a Wishlist thread where we all maintain our wishlists.

Just some random thoughts...

Beth both of those ideas would cut down on the multiple post daily at least I think!!

I agree Angie!

And I meant to say "need this right now for an upcoming sale." so I edited the original post (I had mistakenly said trade LOL).

I totally agree we need to cut down on the multiple one item posts by any single trader. It's causing secondary problems, one of which is others bumping to stay ahead.
If a limit is decided, say, 12 posts per day, will that make someone who only has 5 posts in a given day split them up b/c they know others are able to, and will, put in more little piddly posts?? Too confusing, too bad COMMON COURTESY of the board is not working.

And..

Good idea to have an ISO thread, and probably W/L thread too, every trader takes care of his own.

So, these, as well as raffles/auctions, are moved off to their own boards.

What's left on this board?

yup!!! i usually bump at least once a day and usually it ends up on page 6-7 by the time i get ready to bump it again. i think once every 24 hours would be better but at the same time people should put all their stuff in one post when it comes to coupons. Rolling Eyes

I think this board should be "have for trade" lists. Since we all love to trade so much I'm sure we'll all be checking the ISO board so we can trade more LOL!

That isn't to say this board won't have wishlists on it too - I think most of the posts on this board are okay. You list what you have and then what you are looking for. In your signature or at the end of your post you link to your full "wishlist" that is actually maintained on another board (by board I mean separate place on CF). So you have your ISO right now list in the post and ongoing wishlist in a separate place linked from your post.

If you have something extra special, hot, or short dated then a second or possibly third post might be warranted to separate out those special items especially if looking to trade for a small list of stuff. But having 10-12 posts (or more), each with 1-2 coupons, just isn't working for everyone.

Just my two cents...

I am for the ISO forum also. And maybe a sticky with coupon blogs listed. I only get here once a week or so and my post with my blog info is always back to page 30-40. The ISO would def free up space. If those of us who have blogs had to PM info to the mod, it could be posted on a locked sticky and that info would always be available on one page.

What will be left on this board is the weekly post that some people have when they get their inserts. I think at times it gets out of hand especially when you have a ton of raffles, auction etc going and everytime someone post to that it gets bumped to the top and the ones trying to trade coupons get moved down to the pages. It might help just to remove the auctions, raffles, etc to their own board to keep this board just for trading of coupons. I think we have way to much bumping going on. Something has to be done but yet fair to everyone.

Sorry, I just see a new board for ISO lists getting as difficult as this one.... too many thinking they have to bump to stay on page 1, not realizing that everyone sees new posts marked with an orange page. New members will join, not knowing the ISO board "rules", and that board will become just like this one. It isn't just coupon related posts that could be one thread.

A better use of space is to have a separate area for auctions, raffles, etc... limiting bumping to no more than once a day, limiting multiple threads by any one member and everyone remembering that new posts are marked as such when logging on to the forum.

Not everyone has a blog so a sticky with coupon blogs listed isn't necessary. If your blog is in your signature and you post, your blog link gets seen.

I agree- Things that have become a problem need to be considered for regulation (new board, or limits). The rest can stay- as long as it's not off topic.

ISO/WL can have their own board. For those who are worried about theirs geting "buried": They can create a blog or other site outside CF, and list the link in their sig.

Well said: We're not going to please everyone! So, if we go for what worked in the past, it should work in the future!!

Every 10-12 hrs is reasonable for a board as busy as this.

I have been guilty of multiple posts, but I was looking for specific things in each.
I will have to try to consolidate Embarassed

I like the trading board the way it is. The only thing I don't like is the multiple single listings from one person only searching for 1 type of coupon at a time. Raffles and Auctions should be on a different board, they are not considered coupon trading to me. I have my website in my signeture and it works great for me. That way I don't have to list my haves or wishlist, ISO's because they can see it from the website. The website is free and easy to set up. Go to www.freewebs.com I've never done a website because I thought it came with a monthly fee but this one doesn't and it was so easy my 4yr old could have set it up. I am guilty of not listing every coupon I have or want on it but that will come with time. I like the idea of only being allowed to bump every 24hrs and limiting to maybe 5 post in the trading post a day. I think that is excessive but only because I am still new at this and I only have 2 posts that I have been bumping several times this week. If you want a ISO for a sale just title it ISO for this weeks sale and then just update it each week a new sale comes up. Just a thought. Tiffany
