There's a deal beginning 1/27 at CVS like they had for Black Friday.

You buy card, use it at CVS, and get $15 credit on your card down the line.

Has anyone done this? How long does it take?

Can you use the Visa anywhere? I can't tell from the web site.

Thanks

It's hard to help you without seeing what you're talking about.  Confused

I know what you're talking about. I saw that too. You pay 9.99 (I think) to get the card and 5.00 cash on it so you've got something to spend. Make a small purchase with it and you'll get a $15.00 credit...so you've made $5 bucks. It starts next week, right? So I don't think anyone's done it yet. I think you'll have to pay that 9.99 OOP, I don't think you can use ECBs on it. I could be wrong though.

After reading the card at CVS, I still don't get it.

There seems to be several different kinds (travel, prepaid, rechargeable) and I think there are specific set dollar amount cards too. Didn't see any at the one I went to.

The ones I saw charge a 9.99 activation fee and the amount has to be $20 to $500. But then there's something about a 4.95 monthly use fee.

So if you pay 9.99 and 4.95, you only earn 10 cents when they give you the credit of $15.

You also have to activate it online or by phone and they send you a card???

I wonder if the $25 VISA gift card is a different company than green dot. They are really confusing.

I have a GreenDot card because we dont have a checking account and I wanted to pay bills online with it. With mine, I bought it with $20 and paid the $9.99 activation fee, I called them and they set up my acct and Im a premier member instead of a reg member (get more benefits) and I got a credit for $10 for upgrading to a premier acct. If I load $750 or more each month, I dont have to pay the monthly fee. If I dont, then $5 and $4.99 come out one is for my acct fee, the other is a maintenence fee. We have DH's check DD into it so we dont get charged for loading (usually $4.95 per load, so if I have to, I load a lot at a time to pay several bills, almost equals check fees or M/O fees) I got the card in the mail within 10 days and I can use it at the store as a VISA or a debit (I have a pin), I can withdrawl from the ATM, pay bills over the phone or online. The best part is, its prepaid so you can only use what you have, so no worries about bouncing things. I really like it, but to each their own.
