Forgive me if this has been discussed before, I don't have time to search for it.
I took some printed coupons to Wal-Mart Saturday (3/4/06) and was told that they had just that day received a memo to no longer accept internet printed coupons since they were ALL fraudulent.
I don't know if this is a new chain-wide policy or what, but I thought I'd post it for those who print coupons and shop at Wal-Mart. |

It was brought up in Coupon Talk earlier in Feb http://www.couponforum.com/discuss-coupons-36909.html
Did you talk to the manager? They all seem to be having a problem between fake IPs, Frees and real ones

I did my shopping at Wal-Mart on Sunday evening and used internet printed coupons without question... I have been using them there for a while.... I will definitely think twice about shopping there is that is the case....

Thanks for the link, Laurie.
No, I didn't have time to get the manager involved. Just announced that from now on I'll use my IPs at Price Chopper. Even if PC is a few cents higher, I'll save money with the coupons. The town I live in is small enough that I can go from store to store. Actually, Price Chopper is on the way TO Wal-Mart! |

| I always go to self check out so no one ever says anything to me about what coupons I use. I am able to use expired as well. The only one I ever had a problem with was the 1.00 on Glade andd that was because the glade is .97 at walmart. Try self check out! |

Last Thursday my sister was at a Super Walmart and she gave the cashier an IP coupon. The cashier shut the register down, turned the light on and the manager came over. They told my sister that the coupon was fraudlent and the TORE it up in her face. They refused to even give the pieces back to her.
Little did they know her friend was 2 aisles over using the EXACT same coupon that was IP and it was scanned and accepted with absolutely no problems....
Now go figure that one out! She was so angry she couldn't even call the manager because it was the manager who did it! |

I've also been denied. I had one recently that the cashier recognized as a printed one. The cashier called over the manager who said sorry we dont take printed coupons. |

I work at target and our asset protection team has been telling and reminding us everyday about coupon frauds. I am a sales floor team member but I have to know since I get called up for backup when busy.
We take printed coupons as long as not expired. We scan it and if the register beeps at us saying it couldn't find a item that matched this coupon then we can't take it. Even if its exactly what you purchased. its not a flaw in our system its telling us that its a fake coupon.
We are supposed to report to AP after transaction is completed of what happened and what coupon was. But a plus is... we will give it back and you can try somewhere else! |

|
|
| I was at WalMart last week. I saw the manager that approved my coupons the week before and she was working the register because of so many long lines. I figured she would be a great person to try and check out with . I sure was completely wrong. I made enimies with her that night. I had to split up my order because of 2 seperate rebates I was doing. She rang up the first order and immediately she asked if the 1st coupon was internet printed, I said yes. She said sorry we don't accept internet print coupons. I said I used them last week. I asked for a coupon policy and she says they don't have one and that she was trained in cashier school not to accept them a long time ago. I told her how the internet controls how you can only print 2 of each coupon from a website and everything and that they were good to use. She refused. So I let her do her thing with the rest of the Sunday insert coupons and at the same time I started going through the bags and pulling out the items she wouldn't take coupons for. That really pissed her off and it made me feel much better. Then she went to the 2nd order which had my other rebate and my cart full of stuff. I had so many coupons that another manager had to approve the order. While he was there I asked about a coupon policy and if they accept internet print coupons and he said yes they accept them. That really made that woman mad. She complained to him that last time she accpeted them her drawer came up short and so on. He repeated saying accept them and if any problems arise then to blame it on him but they do accept them. Then she grabbed the stuff off the floor that she denied coupons for earlier and had to re-ring it all up and then she was shocked that the computer let her scan them without beeping. She apologised but wouldn't look at me and she was so huffy and puffy about it. Ever since then she can't stand to see me in the store again. Oh Well, I was right and I stuck to my guns about it. |

I emailed their corporate office. I gave them an education on IP coupons.
I would suggest those of you who have had coupons refused or know something who does, also email the corporate office under the "corporate office" "Feedback" category |

they taped up the slot for the expired ones here and you have to give them to a person at the end they check them before you can complete the transaction. pain in the ass if you ask me. |

Coupon school? hehehe I worked there for a long time. "Coupon school" consists of employees completing so much training on a computer program about machines, bagging, coupons, manners, etc. Its not a great deal of training time, a couple of hours maybe, and I don't remember there being any mention of printed coupons. |

Mind you, I have never gone to the extreme you went through. But, I have had the cashier take off products after the supervisor had come over and had an argument with me about coupons that they would not take. One time I had several products and they got so confused they had to rering the entire order. My husband won't go through a line with me if I have coupons that have caused me problems in the past. He gets embarassed because I won't give up when I know the cashier's being unreasonable. He says it's not worth a few dollars and I tell him it's the principle.
I have also had coupons taken by some cashier's and not others because of the beeping cash registers. These are usually wine/beer tags and not internet printed and were not fraudulant because they were "beeping sleauties"! |

I wrote to customer relations and this was their reply.
Wal-Mart Stores can accept coupons that are available on the internet for customers to print from their home computers. The following are guidelines for the stores for accepting internet coupons:
- The coupon should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon". There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer, to ensure the coupon can be processed for payment.
- The coupon should have a scan-able bar code.
- The coupon should have an expiration date.
- The coupon cannot be a photocopy.
- The limit is one coupon per item, per Customer.
- A Salaried Manager can refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet any or all of these guidelines.
Thank you,
Customer Relations
Print that out and take it to the store. |

I didn't know of any store in my area that takes expired coupons. Are you saying that if they scan even though the date is expired, that it is right to use them? |

Hi and welcome Cheryl
This entire forum "Printable Coupons" is filled with nothing but coupons you can print yourself. Nine pages deep, but filled with a lot of good ones.

I work for Walmart and use my internet coupons a lot there. No questions asked. And if they ever refuse them.I will fight for my right to use them.
So,everyone who was refused.Ask to speak to the Manager.Right then and there.

I found that it depends on your location as to whether the accept them or not. If they have had an overabundance of fradulent coupons, they wont take any. The Wal-Mart where I shop says that as long as the bar code scans, is a manufacturers coupon, and has an expiration date, they have no problem. Some cashiers dont like to deal with them, so they say they no longer take them. |
