My mom (ergillmore) has taken IP coupons to Wal-Mart and they said no. We don't have a Super Wal-Mart here in Riverside, CA so I just take regular non-food coupons, and they've worked so far. I've even used self-checkout with coupons, and they scanned fine.

I'm sorry to all of you who have had problems. I love Wal-Mart but I LOVE shopping at Target ANYDAY over Wal-Mart (no offense to anyone who shops or works there). I've just had problems with management there while making a complaint about a customer. I shop at Target now even though it may be more expensive, but if they ever build a Super Wal-Mart in the area, I'll go there for groceries.

Did this the other day for both target and walmart. Target kinda avoided the question Confused, but here was what I got back. Very similar to pps.

I sent (same to both stores but changed name):
I'm contacting you with a question regarding internet printed coupons.
I often have problems using coupons in your stores, but especially
internet printed coupons. I've been told by cashiers that "Walmart does
not accept internet printed coupons", and "we can't accept any coupons
(internet or otherwise) if they beep." Are these comments true? Is it
possible to send me an official coupon policy from your office in order
that I may share it with cashiers or managers who give me a difficult
time using valid coupons? Thanks you so much for your help!

Walmart Said:
Thank you for your message.

Wal-Mart Stores can accept coupons that are available on the internet
for customers to print from their home computers. The following are
guidelines for the stores for accepting internet coupons:

- The coupon should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon". There
should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer, to ensure the
coupon can be processed for payment.
- The coupon should have a scan-able bar code.
- The coupon should have an expiration date.
- The coupon cannot be a photocopy.
- The limit is one coupon per item, per Customer.
- A Salaried Manager can refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet
any or all of these guidelines.

Thank you,
Customer Relations

Target Said:
Thanks for sharing your experiences with using coupons at the
Monroeville Target store. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had
with internet coupons.

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping at Target, but
because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have
some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target:

- We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons/ coupons for
out store found on and manufacturer-issued coupons.
- We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the
same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater
than the purchase value of the item; in that case, we'll adjust the value
of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for
products not carried in our stores.
- All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of

Your feedback about the information you’ve received about coupons is

If you ever have a concern about coupon acceptance, check with the

My store requires management approval for all known coupon abusers or mass coupon users when they present internet coupons. We'll usually take them, but the amount of attempted fraud is unbelievable. People change expiration dates, product names (but keep the manufacturer the same so they will still work) or just outright make up free coupons with no bar code.

What store do you have? I agree that IP coupon fraud is on the rise. I know that one of our grocery stores has stopped taking IP coupons altogether.

Forgive me if this has been discussed before, I don't have time to search for it.

I took some printed coupons to Wal-Mart Saturday (3/4/06) and was told that they had just that day received a memo to no longer accept internet printed coupons since they were ALL fraudulent.

I don't know if this is a new chain-wide policy or what, but I thought I'd post it for those who print coupons and shop at Wal-Mart.

Walmart sucks. Here in Statesboro,GA at Walmart everyone that works there is so hateful. The other day I was pushing a shopping cart in the store and I admit I was pushing it a little fast and this man that worked there stopped me and said in a loud voice "Slow the buggy down, somebody is going to get hurt!".He gave me this speech about Walmart was not a playground and on and on and on.I'm 18 years old and I don't need to be treated like a child. Also, we bought a computer game there the other day and it would not run on my computer. We took it back and we didn't have the recipt. They said we could not get money back which was understandable. They said go pick out another game so i got a different kind of game for the same price and they said you have to get the exact same game.My computer was not updated enough to run RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 so it wouldn't make a difference if we got a new copy of that game.I refuse to shop at Walmart anymore cause i'm tired of being treated like this.

I was just told this week that our Wal-mart is no longer accepting IP coupons. I had a manager come over and tell me that it is a new policy. I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say! Shocked I guess that I am going to take my IPs to a different store. But in the meantime I am going to use a BIG pile of my other coupons every time I go to Wal-mart since I know how much they all like dealing with them!!!!

I just came from Target and the nice lady at the register just told me that if an IP does not scan, they can not manually punch it in. And being as there are so many fake IP's out there that Target may soon not take them anymore either ! That would so stink !

I guess we should thank the people out there that are ruining it for us!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is up to the management at each individual store whether to accept the internet coupons or not, I work for wal mart and we are allowed to accept them as long as the bar code scans, if it doesn't we can't take them because of fraud. I also saw a wal mart in north carolina that quit cashing pay roll checks because there was such a problem with fake ones.

As far as exchanging the game, that is policy in general, there are people that would exchange for a different title because they are copying them.

As far as hateful employees, try working for walmart and you'll understand. I always wondered why employees at my store seemed so hateful until I started working there. The company treats you like dirt and takes away incentives, customers treat you like dirt (sometimes for no reason other than just because), like you're stupid because you work in service. I know it's not an excuse, and it is our job to be nice, but after awhile it takes it's toll.

I shop at walmart all the time. Every single time I go, I give them a big stack of coupons. And everytime the cashiers roll their eyes at me and hum and haw looking for expiration dates or anything wrong with them. Then I get the lecture about IP coupons and if they don't scan they can't use them, and if it doesn't scan then they will alert the manager who will alert security since it is fraud. GOD!!

So every time I tell them thanks for the update just scan them since they ALWAYs scan and work just fine. Heck I had one walmart manger hold one up and tell me for 5 minutes how it is fake until I told her to just scan the darn thin and call the F*&n security if she wants but she will be wasting her time since I never ever use fradulent coupons. Grrr people are soo ignorant and mean. She did it right in front of my kids too.
